We would like to introduce the Colorado Stormwater Council – CSC, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that represent Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Colorado Discharge Permit System (CDPS) Stormwater Discharge permit holders.

All municipal, county and non-standard MS4 permit holders are invited to join. The council acts as a forum which (a) serves as a voice for its members when representation at regulatory hearings or other meetings is necessary or desired; (b) enables exchange of technical information regarding stormwater regulations and compliance with permits; (c) educates members; and (d) aids in the development and implementation of stormwater programs at a local level.

The CSC has a number of subcommittees which serve to bring together members who have common interests and facilitate communication. Current committee activities include following education and CDPHE Water Quality Control Division funding bills at the state legislature; and participating with Urban Drainage and Flood Control District on a CSU research project.
This project is a study of Best Management Practices (BMP) whose goal is to arrive at a rational and objective basis for the selection of BMPs with respect to meeting overall goals for urban watershed stormwater management. This guidance will be applicable for new developments and redevelopments on a site-by-site basis and a multiple-site, municipality-wide basis so that stormwater managers can determine the control measures that best meet their municipal needs and the desired stormwater management goals. In addition, long term life-cycle costs of BMPs and BMP systems will be developed, which are or need to be of major concern to municipalities as they affect near-term and long-term budgets, tax structures and/or fees imposed on their residents.

We are in the early stages of developing our programs and mission and are only as strong as our members. Please contact Ms. Jill Piatt Kemper at jpiatt@auroragov.org for more information about our organization or Ms. Kelly Hargadin at khargadin@co.adams.co.us for a fee schedule. We welcome your participation in this effective and professional organization.
